The Tronic 3000 T is a mini-tank under sink water heater. This little guy is small and compact — able to fit in the cabinet under your bathroom sink.

It measures 13.75 inches by 13.75 inches and weighs 17.4 pounds. It comes with a bracket for easy mounting.

Even though this is a small, out-of-the-way type of water heater, it’s made to last. The tank is glass-lined, minimizing the damages hot water can cause.

The tank is also clad with CFC-free foam insulation, preventing standby heat loss and increasing its efficiency. No wonder the unit has a thermal efficiency of 98 percent.

It runs on electricity and requires a 120-volt outlet. With a fast recovery rate of 6.8 gallons per hour, it can supply two sinks simultaneously. Additionally, Bosch has included a pressure relief valve to keep the temperature steady.

Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from a primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money. To get hot water where it’s needed, when it’s needed, a better solution is to use the Tronic 3000 T from Bosch: a point-of-use electric mini-tank heater. This heater can supplement a primary water heating source, or be used under a single sink. In fact, the Bosch Tronic 3000 T can be used for three different applications: as a sole water heating source for a single sink, as a supplement to an existing heater located far from the sink, and as a buffer installed in-line with tankless water heaters that experience intermittent cold water, also known as ‘cold water sandwiching’. No matter the configuration, there’s minimal stand-by loss from this premium mini-tank water heater.

  • Small and compact, easy to fit and install with the included bracket.
  • Durable tank lined with glass and non-CFC foam clad for insulation.
  • Highly energy and thermally efficient.
  • A fast recovery rate of 6.8 gallons per hour, plus a pressure relief valve.
  • Some users mentioned that the thermostat is a bit slow to get the heater going

Water Heater Buying Guide

The cost of heating water consumes almost 20 percent of your household budget, second only to what you spend on heating and cooling your home. Despite this expense, water heaters are typically ignored until they break, leaving you with no hot water and, possibly, a flooded basement.

If your water heater is nearing the end of its useful life and you’re thinking of replacing it before disaster strikes, you’ll be happy to know that you have better choices, thanks to recent federal regulations that require water heaters to be more energy-efficient. New storage tank water heaters are required to operate more efficiently, and tankless (on-demand) water heaters are even more efficient than that.

Typically, homeowners replace their old water heater with one of the same type that runs on the same fuel—natural gas or electricity. Switching from a tank water heater to a tankless unit can be expensive because it requires you to retrofit your plumbing and possibly your electrical system. But if you’re building a new home or adding to an existing one, installing a tankless water heater may make economic sense.

Consumer Reports recently tested several electric and gas whole-house tankless water heaters from brands such as Bosch, Navien, Noritz, Rheem, Rinnai, Tempra, and Trutankless. We compared the results with those of conventional tanked heaters from Rheem, one gas and one electric, as well as with a Rheem electric heat pump water heater, which is a variation on a tanked water heater.

Following a “heavy use” industry standard test, we compared the performance of gas and electric tankless water heaters with the performance of their conventional tank counterparts. The test used a high draw pattern equal to using 84 gallons of water per day. That’s the daily equivalent of taking several showers, running the dishwasher, washing one load of laundry, and turning the faucet on and off multiple times. The test used an inlet temperature of 58° F for gas models and 74° F for electrics (plus or minus 2° F) and a target outlet temperature of 120° F.

Because the tankless water heaters performed similarly to each other, we averaged the results of each batch, gas and electric, and compared that score with the performance of the conventional gas and electric storage tanks and the electric heat pump model. Using the purchase price, annual energy cost, and an estimated cost of installation, we calculated the payback time for both new and replacement installations. Payback time was longer for a tankless unit that replaced an existing storage tank but more reasonable with new construction.

Tips for Buying the Best Water Heater

When buying a new water heater, you need a unit that will work to your demands, whether small or large. Here are a few things worth considering:

1. Size

With a unit that is too small, you will end up running out of water. If it’s too big, you could be wasting unnecessary money and energy.

If you choose a tankless, however, it’s important to consider the flow rate. That is, how much water the unit will provide you with at once. For a large home, for example, one tankless unit won’t be sufficient.

2. Warranty

Malfunctions can happen with even the best water heater. If one does, you want to be sure it won’t cost you. Finding a water heater with a good warranty will give you peace of mind. And, the best warranties are usually from companies with the largest market share.

3. Digital Displays

Having a unit with a digital display can be simpler to adjust and set. You’ll be able to determine your preferred temperatures and easily turn it on and off. It will also help you to monitor the energy used.

4. Where to Buy

Many homeowners think the best way to buy a new water heater is through your local plumber. However, that’s not always the case. We have found that going through online retailers such as Amazon and Home Depot is best.

You can also go through the product’s official website. Going this route, you can find great deals and good warranties.

Q: Which Is The Best Water Heater For You To Buy?

To determine that a water heater is suitable for your household, a number of factors need to be taken into consideration. They include the number of people living there, how you get your water supply, and your budget. You can also consider between the conventional water heaters and tankless ones.

The conventional ones run all day long, heating water and storing it in a tank for use when needed. With this method, it is quite wasteful on resources. The tankless heaters are also referred to as instant heaters. They heat the water whenever it is in use – when the tap is on, the heater instantly activates heating until it is turned off.

Q: How Often Should I Replace My Water Heater?

To ensure that your water heater is up to par with its function, it is advisable to replace your heater when you notice some unusual things. This is, however, not the only way as there is no standard for when to replace a heater.

When you turn on the tap and cold water runs out, this is a clear sign that something is not working as it should be. If the heater has served you for a while, it might be time to get a new one if the cost of repair proves to be expensive.

A leak in the tank, if you are using conventional heaters may indicate corrosion. This warrants for a new heater as trying to repair a crack in the tank is not very advisable – not a long-term solution.

Q: What Is The Best Temperature Setting?

The temperature gauge on the heater ranges from the lowest to the highest setting. They can include up to four levels- it is, however, dependent on your system. You should, however, be careful as very hot water is likely to cause scalds. It is advisable to have water at a temperature of 120° Fahrenheit or less.

This setting comes pre-installed by most manufacturers; however, a thermostat is present for you to set your temperature at whatever intensity you like. Be careful, however, as scalds are very painful, and hot water dehydrates your skin. In case you get burnt, you should quickly seek some medical attention.

Q: How Do I Maintain My Heater?

Maintaining your heat is determined by the type. If you are using a conventional water heater, this will involve: Draining the water heaters tank to remove sediments. This is done by attaching a hose to the tanks draining valve and draining out some water. This is done until the water runs clear. For instant showers, you need to clean the head from build-up, unscrew and rinse it out.

Calling a plumber for a more professional and routine maintenance will allow you to spot a problem earlier on and saves you time and prevents a problem from getting out of hand. Moreover, you are spared a headache from trying to figure out the more complex parts of your heating system.

Q: Why Does My Water Take Too Long To Heat Up?

The time it takes for your water to get heated is dependent on the buildup in your tank – for conventional heaters. This can be solved by flushing your tank as a form of maintenance at least twice a year. In other cases, the plumbing might be causing issues. By this, the water might be taking longer to get to the faucet from having a longer pipeline. Plumbing experts can solve your problem.
